many of us have watched the gb #4 update.
most of us jumped for joy when they basically said that there will be no meeting in person for a long time to come.. one aspect we overlooked was how hard they hit home the "love of neighbor".
how this "love" is what makes a true christian and as a result our love for our neighbors will motivate us to stay at home.. well now they released a letter that is instructing all kh's to view this video during their local needs part.
Just talked to a friend from a nearby congregation to see how her zoom meetings are doing. Just as I expected...she related that often she sees 40% to 50% of those in zoom attendance have their video/camera turned off.
I suspect that 'Mother' is going to be addressing this problem of all these camera-shy JW delinquents sooner rather than later. Will it be a local needs part...or will it be covered in a broadcast video? Considering that WT's stay at home order will likely remain in place for many months to come...this trend of the rank & file keeping their cameras turned-off will only worsen. So this cult has to attempt something to keep camera-bashful Jdubbs tuned-in.

sir82: In our congregation fully half the attendees shut down the video for the whole meeting. I strongly suspect there are adult beverages and other "stuff" going on.
I experienced almost the same thing...I was on a JW gawd awfully boring zoom meeting recently. I listened in on both midweek and Sunday meetings...on both days there were about 85 different devices zoomed-in. The hilarious thing about it was that about a third (between 25 to 30) individual devices had their camera/video turned off. That is a rather large amount of attendees who opted out of wanting to be seen on camera. The elders can't be too happy about that!🤣🤣🤣
The equivalent to that is if at an actual Kingdom Hall meeting 30% to 50% of those in attendance were to gather in the lobby to chit chat while the meeting is going on.
the point of the letter was how many are feeling disappointed these days.. no circuit assembly, convention, how we can't fellowship at the k.h.
disappointed we might have had a love one die, etc etc.
he then goes on to write about how disappointed jehovah must have felt when his first human creation rebelled.
The local congregations are having the visit of the CO via zoom during this pandemic around this area. I attended one last week...It was gawd awfully boring. for those who haven't come across furuli before , he is a 77 year old norwegian professor and is ( or was ) one of the few "scholarly" jws used by the society and used as a source on various matters ( especially 607 bce ).. however recently he has fallen out with the gb and has published an interesting book - like many recent scholarly apologists , he seems to be going down the road of disagreeing with the authority of the gb but still holding that the jws is the one true religion.
kind of "lions led by donkeys".
whether this view will continue is anyones guess.
...thank you dozy for the link to Furuli's book.

I have invested my whole soul in this religion for 59 years."
What Furuli states above reminds me of the expression: "You can take the man out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of the man"!
This guy didn't just casually spend nearly 6 decades in this cult...he invested his whole soul into it. You can't help but feel sorry for this chap!

smiddy3: How can one look at the GB as misleading the flock on so many important issues and still believe they are the "true" religion?
You'll find the answer in Furuli's opening words in the Introduction where he states:
"This book is not an attack on Jehovah’s Witnesses. On the contrary! My beloved religion is the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses. And I have invested my whole soul in this religion for 59 years."
It's obvious that this man is in a love-hate relationship with his 'beloved religion'! This cult started 'screwing' with his mind when he was a virgin teenager. This religion is all he's ever known! Furuli's relationship with this cult reminds me of 'battered women syndrome'. The question is often asked...'Why don't they just leave'? The reasons why individuals stay in abusive relationships are many. I'll bet my bottom dollar that when you find out the answers as to why people stay in abusive relationships you'll have your answer to Furuli's messed-up thinking about this cult.

Governing Body Of Jehovah's Witnesses = Militant Attitude!
This equation is a keeper!

In chapter 5 (Disfellowshipping Based On Human Commandments) page 209, Furuli states that the Governing Body have a militant mindset toward disassociated ones that needs to be abandoned:
"...This means that if a Witness writes a letter saying that he or she will resign from being a Witness, he or she will be treated just like a disfellowshipped person and will be shunned. This is an expression of a militant attitude, and in the absence of clear Scriptural instruction, this practice should be abandoned. This is, in reality, the same as to use two different balances and scales, one set of balances and scales when a person changes his religion and becomes a Witness, and another set when a person changes his religion and leaves the Witnesses. Moreover, the justification for this attitude is wrong."
He cannot be the only one of WT top brass who feels this way. My guess is many WT Bethel elite feel deep down that the WT GB have too much of a militant attitude toward any who simply want to walk away from this cult.
we have the instructions to not engage in any meetings or outside witnessing.
she's a very pretty sister.
she is dressed in appropriate jw attire.
You know it's a good song when part of the lyrics get stuck in your head and you find yourself repeating them...
🎶Stay The Flock Home'm...Stay The Flock Home'mm...Stay The Flock Home'mmmmm.🎶
Kudos to the WT Society for this one!🤣🤣🤣
